Exercise Helps...Right? Part 2

Jeremy Brodovsky

Last time we looked at the first five reasons why exercise can help you, now we are looking at five more reasons why it helps. To see the full article, click on this link.

What do you think about these?

6. It Can Help Skin Health

Exercise can help produce antioxidants which helps cells in their fight against free radicals in the body. Additionally, exercise can "stimulate blood flow and induce skin cell adaptations that can help delay the appearance of skin aging!"

7. It Can Help Your Brain Health and Memory

Increased exercise, especially cardiovascular exercise, will increase blood flow to the brain! Certainly this is a benefit. Also, as we said above, it helps increase production of antioxidants which also help with brain health. Regular exercise has been shown to help reduce the effects of chronic diseases which ultimately will affect the brain. Lastly, for older adults, exercise promotes changes in brain structure and function, improve memory and mental function and reduce the effects of Alzheimer's.

8. It Can Help With Relaxation and Sleep Quality

Multiple studies have shown that exercise improves your sleep quality. Have insomnia, exercise can help. Energy depletion from exercise helps stimulate recovery processes that happen when you sleep. This can be accomplished with either aerobic or anaerobic types of exercise.

9. It Can Reduce Pain

Previously, it has been thought that inactivity was the best way to treat pain, especially chronic pain. However, more recent studies have shown that this might not be the case. Regular exercise helps individuals manage their pain better and have an improved quality of life

Personally, with my own ongoing struggle with migraine headaches, I have found the exercise when I have a migraine, helps mitigate the pain caused by the headache as well as the psychological effects that migraine sufferers often experience. I have exercised with migraine only when the pain is not too debilitating but at a manageable level.

Moreover, it has also shown that regular exercise helps individuals increase or improve their pain threshold and tolerance to pain as well as the pain perception.

10. It Can Promote a Better Sex Life

Who doesn't want a better sex life? I think all hands go up on that one!

Regular exercise improves your sex drive! It strengthens your cardiovascular system and tones your muscles--- all important for a better sex life. Women report more frequent orgasms when regular exercise is incorporated into their lifestyle. Hooray ladies!! Men see a decrease in sexual dysfunction with regular exercise. Congrats guys!!

Bottom line is regular exercise is going to make your sex life better--- I think that is something that we can all agree is a good thing!!
